Generally canned foods and soda pop will store longer inside of a container - and again certain containers are better than others - and meats last longer when you store them outside in the snow - but not always. Cooking low condition food doesn't help against food poisoning either. Canned sardines seem to give you food poisoning more than other foods. Or you might store bear meat outside on the ground and can eat it when it's down into the 30% range and never get food poisoning. ![]() You might store some cooked bear meat inside a 'fridge and get food poisoning from every piece inside there when it's at around 70% condition and have to throw it away. I've found that decay is mostly completely random at times. Another one is the metal container that might be there in the side porch of the farmstead in PV. For example I've found the best place to store any item is inside the hatch in the Mountaineer's Hut in TWM. And you can make things decay slower depending on where you store it. Some things decay faster than others and some things never decay.
